I called my local Kawasaki dealer for a part for my 15 year old Vulcan classic - they were useless - told me the part was no longer available and I should try my luck on e-bay or amazon and see if I could find a used part. I easily found the part on Megazip, it shipped from Japan and I had it less than a week later in Canada. The price was reasonable - what I would have expected to pay at the local dealer, as was shipping and handling. Most importantly, my bike is back on the road!
